Avoid Scam Artists Online

When you're trying to make money online, there's no shortage of scam artists. Beware of any of these red flags:

  • Multi-Level Marketing (MLM): Dozens of terrible MLM ideas have been pitched to me, ranging from smoothie drinks to forex trading. All of the ideas were built on failing business models and most of which don't exist today.
  • Having to pay your way into a job: If you have to pay a company for the right to work for them or things like startup costs, you're not an employee, you're a customer!
  • Useless courses: Countless self-proclaimed gurus always claim they have the keys to success, and charge outrageous course fees only to disappear once you transfer over money. Research your course and instructors thoroughly, and see what the reviews say about them.
  • Get rich quick schemes: There are rarely any shortcuts to making money online. Beware of any people promising you'll get rich quickly with minimal work.
  • Promises of a guaranteed return on investment: If you're looking to invest money online, run far away from anything that guarantees a percentage return on your investments. Short of something like a high-interest savings account, it's almost impossible to earn a riskless guaranteed return on your investment. It's a huge red flag if someone promises otherwise.
  • "Fad" investments: When the cryptocurrency craze peaked in 2018, there were dozens of companies that offered outrageous returns on investments of over 10% per month. Almost all of those companies are now bankrupt, and most investors lost all their money. Let's see if it happens again with this huge 2021 crypto craze.

89. Sell Used Clothes

Pay Range: Usually $10 to $50 per item

Got old clothes filling up your closet and not enough cash in your wallet? Solve both these issues at once. If you don't mind the legwork, you can visit a consignment store with your used clothes, or you can try selling on Kijiji, Craigslist, or Ebay.

90. Airbnb

Pay Range: $20 to $200 per night

How Fast You Can Get Paid: 24 hours after guest check-in

If you have your own place or you are renting, but your landlord permits it, Airbnb is a great way to make some extra quick cash. If you live near a tourist site, you can make a killing during the right season. There's a reason it's a unicorn startup, and I've used it dozens of times as both a renter and a customer.

91. Data Entry/Typing Jobs

Pay Range: $5 to $20 an hour (Based on platform and complexity of the job)

Many data entry jobs are still manual, and they are still available. Upwork usually pays out fast enough if you find the right client. If you know MS Excel well enough, you might get prioritized. If you don't have an Upwork account, it won't be that fast, though, as you need to get approved for the platform.

92. Become a Caregiver

Pay Range: $15 to $25 per hour for senior care/ $15 to $30 per hour child care

Care.com allows you to register yourself and work as either a nanny, a senior care provider, and even as a pet sitter. If you and the employer can come to an arrangement, they can pay you directly in cash the day at the end of your shift.

93. Sell Your Parking Spot

Pay Range: $6 to $11 in Vancouver, $6 to $15, and even up to $45 in Toronto for two hours.

When you are strapped for cash, you must look at all your assets, and that includes your parking space. At Bestparking, you can put your parking space up for rent. The more desirable the spot is, the more money you can earn.

94. Homemade Food

Pay Range: $6 to $12 per meal

If you like cooking or at least follow the recipes available online, make some money by selling homemade food. Depending on where you live, you might need to get a license, though, so try to get that beforehand.

95. Write/Edit/Proofread

Pay Range: $10-$50+ per thousand words

Writing, editing, and proofreading are some of the most common freelancing jobs available. You can apply for them on freelance job websites, Facebook job boards, or networking. Payment takes more than a week usually.

96. Sell Stuff

Pay Range: Depends on the item

Every household has items that are unused and wasted. You can hold a garage sale, place an ad on Kijiji or eBay, or sell to consignment stores.

97. Pet Sitter

Pay Range: $30 to $50 per night for boarding

Become a sitter with Rover. It usually takes the Rover team under five days to review and approve your profile. After that, you can start offering your services right away. Play with dogs and earning cash; it doesn't get better than that.

98. Deliver with Amazon

Pay Range: $22 to $27 per hour

If you live in Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary, you can run a decent gig delivering for Amazon. Create your own delivery schedule with Amazon's flex service to give you maximum freedom to earn some side hustle cash.

99. Get Creative

Pay Range: US$3 to US$200 per item

You can sell things on Etsy. If you have an arts and crafts passion, you can make something that's unique and share it with the world, and earn a few quick bucks in the meantime.
